By Mark Elezaj

Last night, Live from the CHI Health Center, Omaha Nebraska, Terence Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs) knocked out Jose Benavidez (27-1, 18 KOs) in the final minute of the final round. This was Crawford’s second fight at welterweight.

Crawford easily controlled the action throughout the fight by attacking the body, picking his opponent apart and finishing him off by landing a right uppercut in the final round, dropping Benavidez with 50 seconds to go in their fight.

Benavidez was able to get up, but Crawford finished the job, attacking and landing a right hook that knocked Benavidez into the ropes. Referee Celestino Ruiz stepped in putting a stop the fight at 2:42 of the 12th and final round.

Benavidez was able to land some good clean combinations, but they were in spots, he even stood toe to toe at one point exchanging punches with Crawford, but it was not enough to hurt him. In the end, Crawford cruised his way to another dominant performance, putting the entire division on notice.

“I did what I said I was gonna do, That’s all that needs to be said.” – Crawford

“I gave a hell of a fight to the best fighter in the world, This is boxing. It happens. He is a great fighter, but I’m a great fighter, too. We gave the fans a great show.” – Benavidez

The judges scored the fight 110-99, 107-102, 108-101, all in favor of Crawford.
