DALLAS – Sources have confirmed that the driver of a Ferrari who was seriously injured in a rollover crash in Dallas early this morning was welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. on Riverfront Boulevard near I-30, and only one vehicle was involved.
According to police, the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed when it went over the center median and flipped multiple times, ejecting the driver. Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
According to police reports, Spence Jr has been taken to hospital in “a serious condition” but is not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
Spence was last seen in action in September, when he beat Shawn Porter via split decision to capture the WBC championship.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Errol Spence.
